I spent a lot of my childhood tinkering, taking things apart, and trying to make my ideas a reality, which is really hard when you don't have the best skills or the right tools. Even now, there are so many things that I want to make that I'm just not well set up to tackle. But 3D printing has allowed me to leapfrog the constraint of "not being able to build it". As long as I can design it, I can create that expensive, hard-to-find-part or that perfect invention that will solve a problem in my life. 3D printing probably won't solve all of the world's problems, but it does allow just about anyone to create solutions and express themselves in a pretty magical way.
